› AS9102 FAI requirements to Customers

We have struggled to maintain a solid AS9102 FAI system. We are in the process of revamping our current system.

It is of the opinion of others that we can use our own standard form (not AS9102 compliant) for sub-assemblies coming in through Inspection and only utilize the AS9102 standard forms on the end product. The belief is that we can reference our standard forms on the Final AS9102 forms as having FAIs completed.

My concern is an AS9102 FAI is an AS9102 FAI-throughout the process. If we want to complete an AS9102 FAI only on the finished units, we would have to do a complete evaluation to AS9102 standards at that point. I do not believe we can reference the other forms, as they are not to AS9102 standards.

I would love some industry feedback as to whether or not we are headed in the right direction with substituting our forms at the front end and trying to reference later on AS9102 FAIRs. It is my belief we cannot do this.
