Quality Training Materials Guide Welcome to Quality Digest’s annual Quality Training Materials Guide which you can download by clicking here. The 1998 edition features more than 170 companies that offer stand-alone training products. Training is an important function for any organization interested in supporting skilled and knowledgeable employees. Enlarging employees’ skill sets and providing information on the latest technologies, standards and management practices helps improve competitiveness. However, budget constraints don’t always allow companies to bring in outside trainers, and even those with in-house trainers often must find ways to disseminate more information for less cost per person. Self-paced training may be part of the solution. While preparing this guide, we noticed a trend toward multimedia self-paced training materials. Perhaps because of the lower cost of multimedia computer systems and the increase in intranet and Internet accessibility, these materials are becoming more popular. Computer-based, on-demand training can be less expensive per person and, for some areas of study, a more effective way to learn. But while high-tech training solutions are growing, books still seem to be the preferred method for sharing knowledge. Low-cost and portable, reading material provides the ultimate in take-anywhere training. More than 120 companies listed in our guide provide printed materials. For companies that prefer or need a classroom setting, the latest in visual presentation materials are available from one of the more than 60 companies listed here. Games, audiotapes, videos, films and creativity toys round out our training materials guide. We hope that this guide will provide organizations with a starting point for locating training tools that suit their needs. The companies represented provide materials in a wide variety of topics, including management training, ISO 9000, SPC, design of experiments and much more. The guide is divided into two sections: a list of materials and the companies that offer them followed by an alphabetical list of companies, along with their contact information and product description. The 1998 Quality Training Materials Guide includes only those companies responding to our requests for information. The products included in this directory have been neither evaluated nor endorsed by Quality Digest. This guide is available for downloading in Adobe PDF format.
