Welcome to the 1998 Calibration Software and Services Buyers Guide. This guide is designed to help those who must meet ISO 9000 requirements for calibration control or who simply want to ensure that the equipment they are using to test their product with is properly maintained.
Accurate calibration records are key to ensuring that all test equipment is accurate and that test results are not only reliable but traceable to a test standard. Calibration software plays a key role in that function and offers a decided advantage to organizations with internal quality programs such as ISO 9000. The right calibration software can save companies time and money, while expediting the quality process.
Most calibration software will provide some or all of the following functions: instrument controller (to control and collect data directly from a test instrument), analysis of test result data and lab management (usually a form of relational database that allows users to track calibration histories). Although most commercial software is ready to go right off the shelf, some companies provide customized software solutions for their customers. For each of these specializations, numerous software packages are available, all offering different capabilities. Our guide includes companies that sell software for equipment calibration or calibration tracking.
Some companies may find it more cost-effective to outsource equipment calibration rather than incur the expense in equipment and manpower to perform and track equipment calibration in-house. In those cases, lab accreditation, quick turnaround, traceable calibration standards and good pricing play an important role in the decision-making process.
The following text lists companies that provide calibration services for everything from gage blocks to humidity measuring instruments and from on-site calibration to drive-in test chambers.
