Hyperion Solutions Corp., a provider of business performance management software, reports that its acquisition of Decisioneering Inc. will allow it to integrate risk management principles more deeply into its software products.
Hyperion will operate Decisioneering as a stand-alone business unit; the acquisition won’t effect its day-to-day operations, says Larry Goldman, Decisioneering’s director of Six Sigma marketing. Decisioneering is the manufacturer of Crystal Ball predictive analytics software, which is used by thousands of Six Sigma practitioners. Crystal Ball has 140,000 business users throughout the world, and is used in the curriculum of more than 700 business schools and universities.“Pairing Crystal Ball’s simulation capabilities with Hyperion’s modeling base will allow companies like ours to better quantify the risks associated with our business plans,” sys Joe Mazumdar, project analysis manager at Newmont Mining Corp., which is a joint customer of Hyperion and Decisioneering.
