Touradj Ebrahimi is a professor at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), working in teaching and research in multimedia signal processing. He also is executive chairman of RayShaper SA, a Swiss startup company active in IAI-powered computational vision and its applications. Currently, he is convenor (chairman) of the JPEG standardization committee that has produced a family of standards that have revolutionized the world of imaging. Ebrahimi represents Switzerland as the head of its delegation to both JTC1 and SC29 (the body that oversees MPEG and JPEG standardization committees), and acted as the chairman of the SC29 Advisory Group on Management for many years until 2014. He serves as a consultant, evaluator, and expert for European Commission projects for various governmental funding agencies in Europe, and advises a few venture capital companies in Switzerland in their scientific and technical audits.
