The National Committee for Quality Assurance has announced that 12 software vendors are seeking certification for its Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set (HEDIS) program. HEDIS uses automated testing to validate software designed to sift through health plan databases, collect relevant data and calculate results. The vendors’ output is compared to expected results to determine if the software performance is in accordance to NCQA specifications. The 12 vendors that have indicated that they will participate in the certification program will begin it in 2007. Ten vendors that participated in the program last year have re-enrolled.
“Vendors who achieve certification have proven that they are more than capable of helping their clients gather and deliver the most accurate results possible,” says Mary Braman, NCQA director of licensure and certification. “We commend the vendors committed to the program, and we look forward to working with them in meeting clients’ reporting needs.”
