(Edax: Pleasanton, CA) -- Gatan Inc., a business of AMETEK Inc. as well as a global leader focused on enhancing and extending the operation and productivity of electron microscopes, has merged with EDAX LLC, a leader in X-ray microanalysis and electron diffraction instrumentation. The combined organization will retain the Gatan name, offering a suite of tools for transmission electron (TEM) and scanning electron (SEM) microscopes.

With a broad product and organization overlap between Gatan and EDAX, transitioning to Gatan as the prominent trade name for all products will allow the organization to fully capitalize on its synergies. EDAX, also a business of AMETEK Inc., will still provide customers the high-quality, reliable products and responsive customer care and support they expect.
