(Metrologic Group: Wixom, MI) -- To optimize its metrology process, an industrial company must think globally with a proactive approach based on planning, programming, measurement, and analysis. The first step, planning, is essential for complete error-free 3D measurement.

Planner X4, a new tool in Metrologic Group’s software suite, helps users prepare work in advance of measurement to save time and avoid any risk of error or interruption to the manufacturing chain.
Prepare 3D inspection offline
Users can schedule inspection plans directly in Planner X4. For even greater flexibility in the use of measuring equipment, this 3D inspection can be planned offline. No measuring machine available? Users can plan the inspection process without having to connect to the measuring equipment, preparing everything in advance to reduce processing time and the risk of errors.
Customize 3D measurement process
Users can decide for themselves which features and points to focus on during the session. They can identify specific needs and the most important features to measure, choose the type of alignment to be applied, select reference elements, and prepare labels in Planner X4. Then, when it’s time to start measurement and all the orders are completed, an operator need only launch the measurement software.
Calculate 3D measurement using any data
3D measurement can be calculated using basic 2D data, integrated PMI data, or by importing different types of planning files. New PMI data can be added with a simple click.
Working from a paper plan? You can link your PMI data to an identification number so you can find them quickly in the software.
Import any data or CAD file
Any type of data can be used to set up the 3D inspection process: IGS, CATParts, and many others. This flexibility means users can import any type of file to run Planner X4. Likewise, the inspection process can be exported without having to worry about format.
Access to 3D measurement overview
Users can directly access an overview of the measurement process to check its steps and compliance. Create reports by choosing the structure and building them as desired; simply drag and drop the desired images to complete the report. And, once the measurement has been completed, the report will fill itself out according to the framework and important points laid down at the planning stage.
The 3D measurement process in four stages
Planner X4 is the first step in the complete measurement process developed by Metrologic Group, covering the entire 3D inspection process, including planning, preparation, programming, execution, reporting, follow-up, and supervision. The end-to-end process enables closed-circuit measurement, facilitating data transmission while reducing the risk of errors and downtime on the production line.
