“Bangladesh is growing rapidly, and global metrology and calibration standards could drive this process,” notes Yumkella during the inauguration ceremony for the National Metrology Laboratory of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution.
“The establishment of the state-of-the art National Metrology Laboratory has been a vital part of UNIDO’s effort to contribute to growth and poverty-reduction in Bangladesh through developing, strengthening, and diversifying the country’s production and export base,” says Yumkella. “The laboratory constitutes a key industrial service institution of Bangladesh, especially with regard to meeting the objectives of the Bangladesh Vision 2021.”
He adds that in the industrial sector, Bangladesh has demonstrated the ability to compete globally.
