Instron Corp. was recently accredited to perform displacement verifications in compliance with ASTM E 2309.
The company reports that it is among the first calibration providers to receive accreditation for the new standard. Standard verification includes five data points within the range specified by the customer, but up to 20 data points can be verified if required. The crosshead or actuator position reading is compared to a high-precision glass scale displacement standard, with a calibration directly traceable to NIST.
ASTM International, a standards-development organization, recommends annual displacement measuring systems verification. For more information, visit www.instron.us/wa/library/StreamFile.aspx?doc=1239
