(JIIA: Tokyo) -- At an international standards meeting held in May 2011 in conjunction with the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) Business Conference, business leaders and technical experts within the European machine-vision industry considered adopting a lighting standard that was proposed by the Japan Industrial Imaging Association (JIIA) as a global standard under the “Cooperation Agreement on Global Coordination of Machine Vision Standardization” between the Automated Imaging Association (AIA), EMVA, and JIIA.

The standard, JIIA LI-001:2010—“Lighting for machine vision/image processing system—Fundamentals of design and specifications on brightness of optical irradiation” was unanimously approved in June 2011.
