Metris recently acquired 3D Engineering Solutions, a laser scanning and visualization service company.

3D has been Metris’ largest service center in the United Kingdom since 2005 and will continue to provide support services to its new parent company as a Metris UK subsidiary.

3D’s in-house and on-site support services include deviation analysis from part-to-part or computer-aided design, reverse engineering, first-article inspection, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, dynamic measurement, rapid prototyping, wear and degradation analysis and direct manufacturing from scan data. 3D is based in Derby. Metris is a Belgian company with broad European operations.

“This acquisition represents a next step for our scanning service bureau,” says Gerald Andrews, 3D founder and CEO. “Within Metris, the business will benefit from the experienced sales and marketing organization, and will improve their technical and user support to new or existing UK-based clients of the Metris group.”
