NITON LLC, a manufacturer of portable X-ray fluorescence (XRF) instruments, recently opened a sales and service support office in Shanghai to enhance its Chinese distribution network. NITON is targeting the burgeoning Chinese consumer electronics industry with its portable XRF products, as many manufacturers in China are struggling to comply with European WEEE/RoHS directives that limit the amount of cadmium, lead and other heavy metals in consumer electronics and packaging materials. Because many of these components are made in China, there’s a great need for the fast and reliable detection of the prohibited materials, which are capabilities NITON’s XRF products can provide.
“We’re extremely pleased with the growth we’re experiencing in the Asia/Pacific markets and with the People’s Republic of China in particular,” says Bill Kinsey, NITON China Inc. managing director. “This new facility will provide superior local support to customers quickly and efficiently.”
NITON also operates a service center in Beijing. For more information, visit www.niton.com.
