Twenty-six years ago, a few friends wanted to make a difference by providing healthy meals to other close friends affected by AIDS. Today their efforts continue through Open Hand, an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization that manufactures and delivers 4,500 freshly prepared meals a day to seniors and people managing chronic diseases. The organization also provides nutrition counseling for its clients.

A second product line, Good Measure Meals, offers nutritionally-sound meal plans to the paying public, and all proceeds go to supporting Open Hand’s charitable nutritional services. During the past 10 years, the Good Measure Meals menu has expanded from 10 types of meals to 30 different meal options. Between the two brands, an average of 20 recipes are prepared every day; each of those use 800 to 1,000 pounds of food to deliver the number of required meals.
