There’s been a noticeable shift during the past five years in how the quality software market is perceived. The definition of what Enterprise Quality Management Software (EQMS) encompasses has shifted, and the benefits of creating a closed-loop quality environment have been validated.

For those of you unfamiliar with the term, EQMS is a class of software that centralizes, standardizes, and streamlines quality content and processes throughout an organization (and often its suppliers), enabling cross-functional communication and collaboration (see figure 1). Although there’s plenty of research and education still to come in this space, there’s now a common understanding of EQMS as well as its place in enterprise-level quality management.
