Henry Ford’s My Life and Work is the bible of Aldous Huxley’s dystopian Brave New World, which is an excellent example of hiding something in plain view. The people in Huxley's story essentially worship Henry Ford, with the sign of the T (Model T) replacing the Christian cross, and years recorded as AF (After Ford). Ford would never have approved of the planned obsolescence in Huxley's book, as depicted by the slogan “Ending is better than mending.”

My Life and Work contains, however, a universal code that applies to enterprises that range from manufacturing to healthcare and transportation. It could, in fact, be construed as the management “bible” upon which the affluence and prosperity of the modern United States was founded.
