(American Society for Quality: Milwaukee, Wisconsin) -- The American Society for Quality presented nine medals of distinction during its recent World Conference on Quality and Improvement. Recognized for their innovative contributions and achievements in the area of quality methodology, the awards and recipients were: Brumbaugh Award presented to William Woodall — Blacksburg, Virginia, professor of statistics at Virginia Tech for “The Use of Control Charts in Health-Care and Public-Health Surveillance,” published in the Journal of Quality Technology, April 2006. The award is presented for the paper that has made the largest single contribution to the development of industrial application of quality control.
