You've probably felt their positive energy as it lights up a room. From teammates to colleagues, direct supervisors to CEOs, these people radiate enthusiasm, positive energy, and inspiration. In her new book Glow: How you can radiate energy, innovation, and success (Berrett-Koehler Publishers, 2009), Lynda Gratton uses examples she has seen during her years of experimental research as a psychologist and professor to blaze a path that will encourage readers to master three distinct areas in life that will enable them to "glow."
In the preface Gratton clarifies that, "By [glowing] I mean that they radiate positive energy—are able to excite and ignite others, and through their inspiration and innovation, are able to create superior value and success in the workplace."
She explains the three principles that make up the foundation of this energy and gives the reader nine actions that support these principles. There's a simplicity in the examples and the action points that engage and inspire without overwhelming the reader.
To focus your attention on the key issues, Gratton developed a simple diagnostic profile designed to help you understand where you stand with regard to your own attitudes and competencies, your team, and your organization.
