Effective Oct. 30, Ellen Bovarnick became responsible for customer satisfaction, driving process improvements, establishing corporate quality standards and leading the implementation of Nortel’s Six Sigma initiative. “I’m excited to welcome Ellen to my team,” said Joel Hackney, Nortel’s senior vice president, global operations and quality. “Nortel successfully launched lean Six Sigma this year, and the time is right for a dynamic leader like Ellen to drive it to advanced levels.”
To work for Nortel, Bovarnick left a vice presidency at Coca-Cola, where she led the global deployment of lean Six Sigma strategies for the company and its bottling system, which spanned 27 company divisions and 200 countries.
“Her experience in driving quality change on a global scale will be of great benefit to both Nortel and our customers,” said Mike Zafirovski, Nortel’s president and CEO.
