Datasweep Advantage 6.1 adds support for new client software technology, additional hardware and operating platforms and Japanese localization. It also offers an innovative run-time option to render client screens over the Web as either Java applets or as simple HTML browser pages. This allows a company to control, user by user, the client software operating environment.
“The Java client option is great when you want to take advantage of local processing power and the ability to connect the client directly with shop floor equipment,” says John Beans, Datasweep vice president of marketing. “In other cases, keeping the client as light as possible may lead you to select browser viewing. The customer can configure this separately for each user based on user needs, network performance and available hardware.”
In addition to Microsoft Windows, Datasweep Advantage 6.1 supports Hewlett-Packard’s HP-UX and the open source Linux operating system. Recognizing that Japanese deployments of the new suite will be significant, Datasweep enhanced the software’s support for Japanese deployment.
