Hexagon Metrology released its new TesaStar M motorized probe head at a recent exposition held in Germany. The TesaStar M is a shank-mounted, motorized articulating probe head for CMMs. It’s capable of indexing in 5-degree increments, ±180 degrees in revolutions, and +90 to -115 degrees in pitch. This translates to a total of 2,952 possible positions, including a table-hugging 90-degree horizontal position possible thanks to its indexing arm’s asymmetrical shape. The head also features high-speed indexing.
The device incorporates industry-standard wiring via a new high-repeatability kinematic joint developed by TESA. Adapters are available to accept standard M8 threaded touch probes, along with adapters to accommodate multiwire-type Renishaw probes.
The TesaStar M will be available exclusively on the new Micro-Hite DCC entry-level automated CMM.
