(Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology: Dubai, UAE) -- International Organization of Standardization’s (ISO) 31st General Assembly in Dubai from October 12–17, at the Grand Hyatt, will address international standardization in energy efficiency, environmental performance, and the effect of building products on greenhouse gas emission accounting and verification. There will also be an Open Session on “Buildings for a Sustainable Future” on October 15. These events are hosted by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), the sole body for standardization and metrology-related activities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The plan is to highlight exemplary achievements and foster new avenues for the development of ISO standards to support the incorporation of new technologies and best practices for the construction and operation of the sustainable buildings of the future.
“The session draws its importance from the increasing need to meet a multiplicity of demands,” says H.E. engineer Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE minister of economy and chairman of ESMA. “From resistance to fire and flood, natural disasters, and terrorist attack, through energy efficiency and a reduced environmental footprint, to ease of integration with information and communication technology networks, as well as accessibility for disabled or elderly persons.”
