(KUKA Robotics: Clinton Township, Michigan) -- KUKA Robotics Corp., a global manufacturer of industrial robots, has announced that the Oak Park Knights 1216 of Oak Park, Michigan, sponsored by KUKA Robotics, recently won the San Diego regional competition and placed 30th out of 86 teams in its division in the national finals in Atlanta in March.

Teams from every state competed in the national finals. The FIRST Robotics program teams engineers from businesses with high school students who work together to brainstorm, design and build a working robot to a prescribed engineering challenge that then participates in a robotic sports challenge against other teams. The program gives students a hands-on, inside look at the engineering profession and is another portion of KUKA Robotics’ Education Initiative.
