The survey was performed by the Greater Detroit Area Health Council and the National Business Coalition on Health. BCN also ranked second in the health information technology and provider measurement categories. The results are from the NBCH eValue8 survey, which collects and verifies information from health plans across the country for employers to use in managing the quality of the plans they offer and in negotiating health plan agreements. “Surveys like this are a factor when employers consider which health plans to purchase, so it’s good news when an independent organization like NBCH ranks us favorably,” says Kevin Klobucar, BCN regional vice president.
BCN scored particularly well in its efforts to promote alcohol and depression screening and treatment, and communicating with members who self-identify alcohol use and depression through confidential health-risk appraisal tools. The health plan provider’s collaborative community initiatives, focus on efficiency, and quality and safety of drug use contributed to its top score in the pharmacy management category.
