Bechtel Communications recently received the Most Innovative Six Sigma Project Award honorable mention for a process improvement technique using its Virtual Survey Tool for network deployment. Bechtel uses the VST in its alternative site selection process improvement process, enabling the integration of site acquisition and network planning activities for network deployment. This allows users to quickly and cost-effectively make accurate site selections from a desktop environment. The award was presented to Bechtel Telecommunications at the sixth annual European Six Sigma Summit in London.
“We’re honored to receive this prestigious award,” says Jake MacLeod, Bechtel Communications chief executive officer. “It validates our innovative network deployment utilizing Six Sigma methodologies. The Virtual Survey Tool has the potential to revolutionize the way operators manage their end-to-end network deployment cycle.”
In 2000, Bechtel became the first major engineering and construction company to embrace Six Sigma. Bechtel Telecommunications is a unit of Bechtel Corp. and provides network planning, RF design, engineering, site acquisition, project management and construction management services for the deployment of wireless, wireline and other telecommunications facilities.
