(Inderscience Publishers: Geneva, Switzerland) -- A special issue of the International Journal of Six Sigma and Competitive Advantage with the theme “Lean Six Sigma in Healthcare” will publish research that leverages lean Six Sigma in clinical and business processes to confront the challenges for quality and cost savings in health care systems. The last decade has witnessed lean Six Sigma being successfully implemented in health care institutions across the United States, since the Commonwealth Health Corp. launched its Six Sigma initiative in March 1998. At the time of its 10-year anniversary, this special issue aims to attract research on lean and Six Sigma methodologies in health care and to share experiences among health care practitioners and researchers.
