MoreSteam.com recently pledged to donate $250,000 in lean Six Sigma training to Starfish Family Services, a Detroit-area social services agency. The training will allow the agency to become more efficient with the use of its funds and other resources, says Bill Hathaway, MoreSteam.com president. “I’ve been associated with Starfish for many years now, and I have witnessed the staff’s amazing commitment to improve the lives of the people they touch,” Hathaway says. “This training will enable Starfish to deploy lean Six Sigma methods for the benefit of all its programs and the families it serves.”
Six Sigma has become more popular in the health care sector, but the often-substantial cost of training required to implement it has put it out of reach for many social services agencies that could benefit from the reduction in cost the initiative provides. The lower cost of e-learning solutions can make it easier for agencies such as Starfish to get the training they need.
