Northrop Grumman Corp. recently appointed a vice president for Six Sigma, among five other new vice presidents. Ron Smith will be in charge of implementing and overseeing Six Sigma in Northrop Grumman’s Space Technology Center, where the company develops a broad range of systems and products for space research, technology and defense applications. In his previous position as director of electrical processes and products in the Space Technology Center’s engineering organization, Smith led the transition to a process-based method of work. Since joining the company in 1982, Smith has held many technical and managerial positions related to the development of electrical communications hardware for satellite systems. He has a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from California Polytechnic State University and performed post-graduate studies at Long Beach State University.
