Stanley A. Marash, founder of STAT-A-MATRIX, a noted leader in the performance improvement field, and long-time columnist for Quality Digest magazine, died Dec. 17 at the age of 71.

Quality was Marash’s hallmark. As chairman and CEO of STAT-A-MATRIX, which he founded in 1968, he was a trailblazer in the international performance improvement field. He was among the pioneers who helped to popularize approaches such as statistical process control, total quality management, ISO 9000 family of standards, and Six Sigma methodology in the United States and around the world.

Recognized as a quality and performance improvement leader, Marash specialized in guiding senior executives in large corporations and government agencies to develop original and cutting-edge approaches to performance excellence. His unique “Fusion Management” approach provided the framework for scores of organizations to design and implement performance improvement programs that were individually tailored for the culture and needs of each client company.
