The American National Standards Institute recently submitted an application for accreditation for a proposed U.S. Technical Advisory Group to the International Organization for Standardization’s new technical committee on nanotechnology. The ISO technical committee, TC 229-Nanotechnologies, was recently approved by the ISO Technical Management Board. To serve on the committee, applications must satisfy the definition of a “U.S. national interested party,” which requires the following:
- An individual representing a corporation or an organization in the United States (including U.S. branch offices of foreign companies)
- An individual representing a federal, state or local governmental agency
- A U.S. citizen or permanent resident
The first meeting of TC 229 will be held in the fall. A meeting of the U.S. TAG will take place in July. For more information, visit www.ansi.org.
