ISO/TC 8, which develops standards related to seafaring supply chain security, was praised for its “strong project management and leadership regularly reviewing its strategic direction and plans to produce relevant and timely documents,” says Masami Tanaka, ISO president. The committee was formed in 1947, the same year that ISO was established. The award was presented at the 28th ISO General Assembly, held Sept. 19-23 in Singapore. The Japanese Industrial Standards Committee, ISO member for Japan, holds the TC’s secretariat, and Capt. C.H. Piersall is chair. I. Ogo is secretary.
“On behalf of the whole of ISO, I am pleased to present the award and offer our congratulations and thanks for the work accomplished efficiently, effectively and harmoniously,” said Tanaka at the event.
ISO established the Lawrence D. Eicher Leadership Award in 2002 as a tribute to Eicher, who was ISO’s secretary-general from 1986 until his death in 2002.
