(Sensor Products Inc.: Madison, NJ) -- To support academic research and development (R&D) efforts, Sensor Products Inc. is offering a 10-percent discount through Nov. 30 on Pressurex, a pressure-indicating sensor film for evaluating surface contact pressure distribution and magnitude. The 10-percent discount is available to researchers working for accredited academic institutions.

“We are delighted to offer this discount that we hope will jump-start new projects,” says Jeffrey Stark, president of Sensor Products Inc. “Researchers set the stage for technical development which we fully support.”
Pressurex is a mylar-based film with a layer of microcapsules. The film is placed between any two surfaces that touch, mate, or impact. The application of force upon the film causes the microcapsules to rupture, producing an instantaneous and permanent high-resolution “topographical” image of pressure variation across the contact area. Pressure magnitude is determined using a color correlation chart (conceptually similar to interpreting Litmus paper).
The film is routinely used to trouble shoot assembly problems, aid in research and design, and reveal defects during quality control. It is extremely thin (4 to 8 mils) and flexible which enables it to conform to curved surfaces. Pressurex measures surface contact pressures between 2 PSI and 43,200 PSI. New applications for Pressurex are being discovered daily but most commonly it measures contact pressure of nip rollers, gasket and bolted joint interfaces, connectors, heat sealers, heat sinks, biomechanics, lamination, wafer polishing and bonding, composite lay up, and plastic molding. See applications for Pressurex online at www.sensorprod.com.
First-time users of Pressurex may obtain a complimentary sample by contacting Sensor Products Inc. at (973) 884-1755, or e-mail to info@sensorprod.com, or visit www.sensorprod.com/sample.
