About the Damietta LNG plant
The Damietta LNG Plant was developed and is operated by Spanish Egyptian Gas Co. (SEGAS), a joint venture between the Spanish Union Fenosa S.A and the Italian ENI S.p.A.
SEGAS invested $1.3 billion for the construction of its LNG plant being built in Damietta, which has a capacity to process 7.6 billion cubic meters (268.4 billion cu ft) of gas per year, producing about 4.8 million tons of LNG after its startup at the end of 2004.
The main contractor was Damietta LNG Construction LlC. (DLC) —a subsidiary of the British M. W. Kellogg Limited (MWKL), and long-time client of SGS.
