(Hubbs Machine & Manufacturing: Cedar Hill, MO) -- Introduced as a new Hubbs product at the 2010 CMSC in July, 2010, the Sphere Fit Extension (SFX) efficiently provides only the necessary geometric features required for use in a sphere fit hidden-point routine—and nothing more.

By comparison, the Bar Extension (BEX), a 25-year-old product developed by Hubbs, was originally made to be used in a linear hidden-point routine, to support a computer-aided theodolite, in what was known at that time as simply a hidden-point routine.
Over time, with the advent of laser trackers, the generic term “hidden-point routine” could be interpreted differently by the end-user. One may think of “sphere fit” while someone else may think of “linear,” but these concepts are vastly different from one another. With the Hubbs BEX, the user is protected either way they choose to do their hidden-point routine—sphere fit or linear.
This is not the case with the newly introduced SFX, which has been designed for sphere-fit routines only.
