(SME: Las Vegas) -- An unprecedented manufacturing event this September will examine and offer solutions to the critical shortage of skilled workers threatening the future of manufacturing in the United States. Experts cite rapidly changing industrial technology and the pending retirement of millions of workers as driving forces behind the depleted workforce. Recognizing the gravity of the situation and its potential effect on the nation’s future, industry leaders will bring solutions to the forefront at the inaugural Interactive Manufacturing Experience (imX), which is scheduled for Sept. 12–14, 2011, in Las Vegas.

At imX, the manufacturing industry will, for the first time, come together not as competitors but as collaborators with a common goal and focus of long-term industry viability. Participants will meet to discuss and foster an understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing their customers, their competition, and the latest manufacturing technologies. The event is expected to draw 9,000 manufacturing leaders, top suppliers, and high-level, qualified U.S. buyers to the Las Vegas Convention Center.
