“The new series offers the highest level of precision and automation capabilities, satisfying increasing demands for higher accuracy, higher speed, and higher work efficiency in structural and large-scale 3-D monitoring applications,” says Brice Walker, vice president of sales for Sokkia’s Survey Business Unit.
The series has an auto-pointing feature that sights the prism closest to the telescope center, even if multiple prisms or reflectors are in the field of view. In combination with the external control system, the total stations automatically search the predetermined area to quickly locate the position of the reflectors. “This function works even in low light or dark conditions when reflectors cannot be recognized by the human eye,” Walker says.
The auto-pointing accuracy range—up to 3,500 m (11,480 ft) with prism and up to 400 m (1,310 ft) reflectorless (NET1AX)—is a feature that “remarkably enhances the reliability of periodic monitoring with predetermined targets,” says Walker.
