Direct Dimensions Inc. scanned “The Awakening,” a 70 ft long sculpture from J. Seward Johnson. The sculpture depicts an enormous man struggling to rise out of the earth, which was a fixture at Washington D.C.’s Hains Point for decades. In a single day, cranes, trucks, and barges converged on the site to remove the giant and transport him to the new location at the National Harbor complex in Maryland. Based on the scanned data, the sculpture perfectly matched the original orientation.
