The National Committee for Quality Assurance plans to honor several high-profile figures, including U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton and former U.S. Representative Newt Gingrich, for their contributions toward improving the quality of health care in the United States.The NCQA Health Quality Awards presentation is a biannual event to recognize those whose actions, leadership and ideas have improved health care quality. The event draws hundreds of the nation’s most influential individuals from business, health care, public policy and academia. In addition to Clinton and Gingrich, this year’s award recipients are Brent James, M.D., Intermountain Health Care vice president for medical research and Institute for Health Care Delivery Research executive director; Mary Tyler Moore, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation chairman; and Marion Nestle, New York University professor of nutrition.

The keynote address will be delivered by Mark McClellan, M.D., Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services administrator. David Brailer, M.D., National Health Information Technology Center coordinator, will be the special guest.
