McBain Instruments, a provider of research, inspection and laboratory microscopy systems, recently celebrated its 40th anniversary in business. The company has served the industrial, biomedical and life sciences markets since 1965 from its San Fernando Valley location in Southern California. It was founded by Carl McBain, as a microscope service and repair facility. Soon after, a sales division was added, along with new capabilities to engineer custom imaging systems. In 1983, a portion of the company was sold to Warner-Lambert, but McBain retained the sales and distribution segments. The company remains active in the business and consults with its president and CEO, Michael Crump.
“McBain Instruments has quietly become the premier supplier of advanced imaging and microscopy systems,” says Crump. “We’re breaking new ground with a variety of new instruments for industrial inspection and livecell biological research. Our 40 years of experience gives us a tremendous advantage in the microscopy industry.”
