The award is given annually by the TBM Consulting Group Inc. to a facility that achieves outstanding productivity results. The Kaiser facility produces precision, seamless drawn tubes with end-use applications for the aerospace, sporting goods, medical device and engineering industries. “It is gratifying to see our efforts in implementing lean Six Sigma recognized,” says Dave Conrow, Kaiser Aluminum vice president of lean Six Sigma. “We have elevated the emphasis on lean Six Sigma within our organization and look to continue our transformation over the next several years, allowing us to do more with less as we eliminate waste from the value stream with the objective of providing superior value to our customers.”
The Chandler facility’s lean Six Sigma transformation began in 2000 after Kaiser Aluminum purchased it. Since then, it has achieved a 68-percent reduction in quoted lead time and increased on-time delivery from seven to 97 percent.
