The event was held in late September, and 150 delegates attended, representing 21 teams from India’s manufacturing, services, telecom, energy, automobile and engineering industries. Samsung India Ltd. was the first-place winner of the Tecumseh India Rolling Trophy, with Bharti Telecom Ltd. as first runner-up and Jubilant Organosys Ltd. as second runner-up. The competition recognizes the increasing importance Six Sigma plays in India’s business culture, says Satish K. Kaura, CII Northern Region past chairman. Quality circle competitions laid the foundation for continuous improvement, but the practice has evolved to emphasize Six Sigma.
The CII is a nonprofit trade group made up of Indian companies that work with the government on policy issues and to enhance efficiency, competitiveness and business-opportunity expansion.
