Solectron Corp. recently selected Statit Software Inc. to provide statistical process control and data analysis solutions to its manufacturing facilities all over the world. Solectron, an electronics manufacturer, operates on five continents in more than 20 countries. The implementation of Statit’s software will build upon Solectron’s existing lean Six Sigma methodology—the Solectron Production System (SPS)—by adding another layer of quality assurance to the manufacturing process. It will also enhance real-time visibility into the production process, increase yields and improve flexibility to meet customer demand.
“Solectron’s SPS is all about providing our customers with zero-defect quality while increasing flexibility and improving competitiveness,” says Ravi Ramanan, Solectron vice president of functional excellence. “Statit’s application will enable us to increase our visibility across the enterprise to deliver even higher-quality products for our customers.”
In developing the software, Solectron and Statit engineers worked together to establish a clear approach to assess product quality and determine the cause of quality-audit failures before manufacturing is slowed or defective products ship.
