A new book explores the dual use of lean and Six Sigma, and offers tips on how best to synch the methodologies for maximum benefit and minimum risk. In Using Lean for Faster Six Sigma Results: A Synchronized Approach (Productivity Press, 2006), authors Mark Nash, Sheila Poling and Sophronia Ward examine the differences between lean and Six Sigma, define the distinct power and focus of each, and detail why and how to best use them together. Lean focuses on the elimination of waste, and Six Sigma addresses variability and reliability. Used together, these methodologies can be powerful improvement tools.
The book is scheduled for release in late July. For more information, visit www.productivitypress.com/productdetails.cfm?SKU=3438.
