The International Organization for Standardization technical committee that develops standards for the oil and gas industry was recently honored with the Lawrence D. Eicher Leadership Award.
The award recognizes outstanding work in international standardization, and is named for Eicher, who was ISO’s secretary-general from 1986 to 2002. More than 50 countries are represented on ISO/TC 67, and more than 1,000 oil and gas experts contribute to the committee. It is responsible for the development of more than 120 international standards. The award was presented at ISO’s 29th General Assembly in Ottawa, Canada, by Masami Tanaka, ISO president, who commended the committee for its strong leadership and prolific output.
“The current rise in oil prices and the consequent need to optimize exploration and production through international standards underlines the topicality of this committee’s work,” says Tanaka.
