(Logitech: Fremont, California) -- Carl Zeiss, an optics company, and Logitech, a manufacturer of webcams, recently announced an exclusive collaboration to deliver unparalleled image quality for video calling and sharing.
Carl Zeiss has been driving optical innovation since the earliest days of photography. Logitech released its first webcam in 1995 and has been leading the development of webcam technology since the inception of video communication over the Internet.
The first webcams designed in collaboration with Carl Zeiss—the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 and the Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks—are expected to be available in the United States and Europe in July for a suggested retail price of €99.99 in Europe.
“Image quality is only as good as the lens that captures the image,” says Dr. Winfried Scherle, general manager of the Carl Zeiss Camera Lens division. “Since 1846, when Carl Zeiss set up his workshop, our company has been driving the science of optics. Today, we design optics ranging from eyeglass lenses to space optics. Working with Logitech gives us the opportunity to reach markets and applications that nobody would ever have imagined twenty years ago.”
