Kentaro Toyama, Ph.D., is the W.K. Kellogg Professor of Community Information at the University of Michigan School of Information. His research focuses primarily on social change and development on an international scale, with an emphasis on digital technology. He’s also a fellow of the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT, and writer of Geek Heresy: Rescuing Social Change from the Cult of Technology (PublicAffairs, 2015). In the past, he was a researcher at University of California-Berkeley and assistant managing director of Microsoft Research India, of which he was a co-founder.
