<p>Since 1989, Mike Parish has worked in the fields of healthcare operations management and of management engineering -- the application of industrial engineering and other management science techniques to improve the delivery and outcomes of health care. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a Diplomate of the Society for Health Systems. Prior to his healthcare work, Mike was an infantry officer in the US Army. He held a variety of leadership and staff assigments, both in infantry units and in operations research assignments. Mike contributes his time to a variety of professional and civic causes, having held many offices, including some at the national/international level. Among these, Mike has served as a state quality award examiner in Washington and in Nebraska, both using the Baldrige criteria. Specialties • Leading organizations to produce better patient outcomes, improved services, and reduced costs. • Successfully managing operations (e.g., supplies, maintenance, food services, security, construction). • Strategically planning, developing, and integrating sustainable operational systems and processes. • Implementing improvement tools and data uses from diverse methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma). • Enhancing communication and collaboration throughout all parts of organizations.</p>
