Founded in 1983, Northern Digital Inc. (NDI) designs and develops optical and electromagnetic tracking and measurement systems for medical and industrial applications. NDI’s products include laser scanners, portable coordinate measuring machines, dynamic measuring machines, optical trackers, reflective spheres, and more. NDI’s technology is used in computer-assisted surgery and therapy, in image-guided radiation treatment, and by advanced manufacturers for optical metrology and noncontact 3-D measurements. In June 2011, NDI was acquired by Roper Industries Inc., a diversified growth company with business segments of: industrial technology, energy systems and controls, medical and scientific imaging, and radio frequency (RF) technology.
