By way of background, I am a senior citizen but not too technically challenged. I know how to operate my HD television and the DVR; I have a cell phone and understand how to use the speaker phone; OnStar is in my car along with a TomTom GPS. As a way to connect to the past, though, I do have a Sony Walkman that accompanies me on my daily runs. But don’t ask me about Bluetooth, whatever that is.

Having said that, I am definitely not a fan of text messages or Facebook. In fact, at one time I blocked all text messages to my cell phone but discovered that in so doing I could not access the “minutes used” portion, so I had to reactivate the text message feature. If someone does send me a text message, I do not acknowledge it, but I call the person. And guess what? Most of the time the originator of the text message answers his phone. So why did they send me a text message?
I also receive text messages from department stores about their sales, and from other companies wanting me to buy their products.

texting, etc.
I rarely text anyone, only if I know they probably aren't where they can answer their phone. I am not on Facebook or Twitter ar any of the other version, don't plan on being there either. I agree with what you have to say. I have another version of a GPS appliance, no OnStar as I drive a Ford.
I wish I had a DVR, but I refuse to pay monthly fees for such. With no cable/sattelite subscription in our house I don't want to pay Tivo for the privilege of using their machine--one time purchase price or I won't buy it. It used to be easier to find a DVR without such fees, but not anymore.
I do try to call someone or at least email--not quite as bad as text, bu talmost.
